The Giovanni Santi Alpine Refuge is at 1308 metres on the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, in an enchanting wood of beech trees a few kilometres away from Renaio. A true oasis of peacefulness.
It is easily reached by car and thanks to its position it represents the ideal starting point for many summer and winter excursions (organised by the management), with footpaths suitable for the whole family that can always be used for mountain bike trips
If you like good food you can also enjoy lunches, afternoon snacks and dinner many typical local dishes and home-made bread. Often the management organises special local food tasting days and evenings with products like mushrooms, goat cheeses, fresh home-made past, game and polenta, bread baked in the refuge oven, mixed platters and delicious home-made cakes a home-made Km 0 cuisine prepared by Elisabetta.
The refuge is a little pearl set in the Barga mountains where you can enjoy and experience the natural, wild and uncontaminated beauty Barga has to offer.
The refuge is run by the young couple Naik and Elisabetta Marovelli and small daughters Bianca and Arwen, the first born child in the last ten years at quota 1.308 m. The refuge is open all year round and has 15 beds in one room and 5 in another, shower and bath facilities with hot water on the same floor and 30 sittings in the dining room and outside in the summer, bar service. The prices are economical and after a long and pleasant excursion on the crest of the Apennines you will be welcomed warmly.
